MLB Odds: Game 4 Could End World Series for BoSox, Dodgers

After losing the first two games of the 2018 World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers return to Chavez Ravine with their backs against the wall – and with the Boston Red Sox firmly in command. Saturday’s Game 4 could be the last game of the season if the Dodgers don’t shape up; FOX has the coverage at 8:09 PM ET.

Both teams will sort out their starting rotations after Wednesday’s Game 2, which the Red Sox won 4-2 as –150 favorites. They used Nathan Eovaldi for an inning of relief; he threw just 13 pitches, so he should be ready to start Game 4 if required. Boston plans to use Rick Porcello for Game 3 on Friday, while Los Angeles will go with Walker Buehler in a virtual must-win situation.

Being down 2-0 in the World Series is obviously a major disadvantage for the Dodgers, but they’ve been here before. In 1955, 1965 and 1981, they came all the way back to win the championship. However, the team up 2-0 has won the World Series a little over 80% of the time. The Red Sox did just that in 2004 and 2007, sweeping St. Louis and Colorado respectively.

MLB Odds: Red Sox-Dodgers in Possible World Series Finale

The Los Angeles Dodgers have some work to do if they want to win the World Series. They return home down 2-0 to the Boston Red Sox; Game 4 on Saturday could be the last game of the season, and it begins at 8:09 PM ET on FOX.

While the starting pitchers for Saturday remain undecided at press time, Nathan Eovaldi (3.33 ERA) might get the nod for Boston, after he pitched relief in the first two games at Fenway. That leaves Rick Porcello to start Game 3 on Friday. Los Angeles will go with Walker Buehler.

MLB Odds: Game 2 of World Series at Fenway Park

After an exciting Game 1 that saw the Boston Red Sox jump to a 1-0 series lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers, both teams will be back at it on Wednesday for a critical Game 2 matchup. As the first seed, Boston holds homefield advantage throughout the series, so it’ll be important for them to maintain that edge and come out on top in Game 2.

Early reports have the Boston Red Sox sending veteran lefty David Price to the mound in Game 2. Price is coming off of his first postseason victory in six games since joining the Red Sox in 2016, as he led Boston to a series-clinching win over the Houston Astros in the ALCS. He’ll be called upon again for what may be the biggest game of his professional career.

Price will be up against another veteran lefty in Huyn-Jin Ryu. Ryu was the Dodgers’ most reliable starter down the stretch of the regular season and has carried that over to the playoffs. Though he’s coming off of a tough outing against the Milwaukee Brewers, Ryu still gives the Dodgers an excellent chance against the Red Sox. Game time is scheduled for 8:09 PM ET, so don’t miss the action.

MLB Odds: David Price Set to Go Against the Dodgers

After breaking out of a personal postseason slump with a series-clinching victory over the Houston Astros, David Price is geared up to lead the Red Sox once again this Wednesday. The veteran pitched an impressive six innings of three-hit ball in his last outing and is keen to reverse recent history of being a playoff bust.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, on the other hand, will look to exploit Price and the short left outfield at Fenway Park. The Dodgers have a plethora of power-hitting right-handed batters, and will be primed to even up the series at Price’s expense.

MLB Odds: Dodgers Host Red Sox for World Series Game 3

They won’t have home-field advantage in the World Series, but the Los Angeles Dodgers (92-71, minus-22.83 betting units during the regular season) are scheduled to play three straight games at Chavez Ravine – starting with Game 3 this Friday night against the Boston Red Sox (108-54, plus-31.11 units). First pitch is at 8:09 PM ET on FOX.

The Dodgers have already announced that Walker Buehler (2.62 ERA) will take the mound on Friday, after Clayton Kershaw and Hyun-Jn Ryu start the first two games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Buehler has enjoyed a very strong rookie season in LA, but thanks to bad luck and poor run support (4.44 runs per game, down from 4.93 overall), the Dodgers lost 1.37 units during his 23 regular-season starts, with the Under at 15-7-1.

Boston have yet to name their starter for Game 3. Chris Sale and David Price have been assigned for the first two games at Fenway Park, so depending on how they use their relievers, the Sox could go with either Rick Porcello (4.28 ERA) or Nathan Eovaldi (3.33 ERA) on Friday. Knuckleballer Steven Wright (2.68 ERA) is expected to come off the injured list and rejoin the bullpen on Tuesday.

MLB Odds: Buehler to Start for LA in Game 3 Versus BoSox

After an impressive rookie campaign, Walker Buehler (2.62 ERA) will get the start for the Los Angeles Dodgers this Friday when they host the Boston Red Sox in Game 3 of the 2018 World Series. FOX has the coverage at 8:09 PM ET.

The Red Sox have yet to announce their starter for Friday, although their choice will likely come down to Rick Porcello (4.28 ERA) or Nathan Eovaldi (3.33 ERA). It will depend in part on whether either ends up pitching relief during the first two games at Fenway Park on Tuesday and Wednesday.

MLB Odds: Dodgers-Red Sox in World Series Game 2

The 2018 World Series features two of the most famous teams in baseball. The Boston Red Sox (108-54, plus-31.11 betting units during the regular season) have home-field advantage over the Los Angeles Dodgers (92-71, minus-22.83 units); Game 2 will take place this Wednesday at 8:09 PM ET on FOX. Boston goes into this series as a –155 favourite to win it all.

Neither team has formally announced their starting pitchers for Wednesday. At press time, we know that Chris Sale will start Tuesday’s opener for Boston; manager Alex Cora has said that David Price (3.58 ERA) will “probably” start Game 2. The Dodgers have yet to assign any pitchers for this series, and have some decisions to make after using Clayton Kershaw in relief during Saturday’s Game 7 NLCS victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

These two teams didn’t get a chance to play each other during the regular season, but Price is familiar with two LA batters in particular – and the numbers aren’t good. Manny Machado (formerly with Baltimore) is 12-for-41 lifetime off Price with five homeruns and a 1.024 OPS; Brian Dozier (formerly with Minnesota) is 9-for-39 with a pair of homers and a .743 OPS.

MLB Odds: Price Probable for Boston in Game 2 Versus Dodgers

It hasn’t been made official yet at press time, but it looks like David Price (3.58 ERA) will start for the Boston Red Sox this Wednesday when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 of the 2018 World Series. FOX has the first pitch at 8:09 PM ET.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora has told reporters that Price will “probably” start Game 2 after Chris Sale takes the mound in Tuesday’s opener. The Dodgers have yet to announce their starters for either game. They go into this series as +125 underdogs, with the Red Sox at –155.

MLB Odds: Red Sox Take on Dodgers in Game 1 of World Series

Game 1 of the World Series is finally upon us and we couldn’t have asked for a better matchup. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox are two of the most storied franchises in Major League Baseball, and they added to that history this year; Boston led all teams in the MLB with 108 wins, while the Dodgers overcame significant questions down the stretch. Now two of the three highest payroll teams in baseball will go toe-to-toe in a best-of-seven for the ultimate prize.

Come Tuesday, Chris Sale will check off another first in his career: starting a World Series game. After battling a stomach illness for much of the ALCS, the big lefty is healthy and well rested. As a result, Red Sox Manager, Alex Cora, has called upon Sale to kick off the series.

The Dodgers’ Game 1 starter has yet to be announced, but given the five days since Klayton Kershaw’s last start, don’t be surprised if you see the top two lefties in the league match up on Tuesday. With that type of firepower on the mound, be prepared for a game that could be decided by a single pivotal play. The drama will get underway at 8:09 PM ET.

MLB Odds: World Series Opener this Tuesday

The Boston Red Sox will host the Los Angeles Dodgers for the first game of the World Series Championship on Tuesday. The Dodgers remember the feeling of falling short, having lost to the Houston Astros in the finals just one year ago. They’ll look to capitalize on that experience and overcome their juggernaut opponents.

Boston, meanwhile, has been riding high all season. They finished with a league-best 108 wins this year and have lost just two games this postseason. Can the Dodgers find a way to stop the league’s best team or will the Red Sox cap off one of the most dominant seasons in MLB history? Game 1 will open the story this Tuesday at 8:09 PM ET.

MLB Odds: Dodgers Can Win ALCS Friday Versus Brewers

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ haven’t put on a commanding performance so far this postseason, but they can secure back-to-back National League pennants this Friday when they visit the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 6 of the NLCS. First pitch is at 8:39 PM ET on Fox Sports 1; Hyun-Jin Ryu (1.97 ERA) is projected to start for Los Angeles opposite Wade Miley (2.57 ERA).

Ryu has been the most valuable Dodger this year – on a per-game basis. He missed half the season with a groin injury, but still managed to earn 1.96 betting units on a team record of 10-5 before leading LA to victory in both his postseason starts. Miley also missed two months with an oblique issue; the Brewers went 12-4 during his 16 regular-season starts for a profit of 9.11 units, but lost 4-3 to Ryu and the Dodgers in Game 2 despite 5.2 innings of shutout ball from Miley.

The Brewers got some bad news on Wednesday when Gio Gonzales (4.21 ERA) had to be taken off Milwaukee’s NLCS roster with a high left ankle sprain. Gonzales hurt himself during the second inning of Game 4, and will not be eligible to play in the World Series should Milwaukee advance.

MLB Odds: Dodgers-Brewers in NLCS Game 6

The Los Angeles Dodgers can punch their World Series tickets this Friday with a win over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 6 of the NL Championship Series. Fox Sports 1 has the coverage at 8:39 PM ET.

Hyun-Jin Ryu (1.97 ERA) is expected to start for Los Angeles, while Milwaukee will respond with Wade Miley (2.57 ERA). The Dodgers have won both of Ryu’s postseason starts, including a 4-3 victory over Miley and the Brewers in Game 2 of the NLCS. That was despite Miley throwing 5.2 innings of shutout ball and allowing just two hits.

MLB Odds: Boston Welcomes Houston in ALCS

The Houston Astros found out who they would face Tuesday night after the Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees 4-3. With that, the Astros will be tasked with finding a way to overcome a dominant Red Sox pitching staff.

Between Chris Sale, Nathan Eovaldi and Rick Porcello, the Yankees had no answers for the Red Sox pitchers. But with the magic of last years’ World Series MVP, George Springer, the Astros have found ways to solve even the toughest pitchers. Springer has already hit three homeruns and will look to lead his team once again against Boston. The first pitch will fly at 8:09 PM ET.

MLB Odds: Astros Visit Red Sox for ALCS Game 1

In what may be the best American League pennant matchup in recent memory, the defending World Series champion Houston Astros (103-59, minus-1.81 betting units) will visit the Boston Red Sox (108-54, plus-31.11 units) this Saturday for Game 1, beginning at 8:09 PM ET on TBS.

B
Justin Verlander (2.52 ERA) is scheduled to start for Houston opposite Chris Sale (2.11 ERA) in what should be an epic pitcher’s duel. Despite their quality performances, big chalk kept both of them from making a profit during the regular season; Sale finished 1.59 betting units in the red, while Verlander coughed up 9.28 units.

MLB Odds: Dodgers-Brewers in NLCS Game 1

Having swept the Colorado Rockies in their National League Division Series, the Milwaukee Brewers (96-67, plus-23.13 betting units) will host the Los Angeles Dodgers (92-71, minus-22.83 units) this Friday in Game 1 of the NL Championship Series. FOX and Fox Sports 1 have the first pitch (TBD).

Friday’s projected pitchers have yet to be announced, but the Brewers seem content on using “openers” rather than conventional starters, while the Dodgers have several quality arms to choose from. Hyun-Jin Ryu started Game 1 of their NLDS victory over the Atlanta Braves, with Clayton Kershaw pitching Game 2.

MLB Odds: Yankees Host Red Sox for ALDS Game 4

The last spot in baseball’s Final Four could be decided this Tuesday (8:07 PM ET, TBS) when the New York Yankees host the Boston Red Sox in Game 4 of the AL Division Series. The Yankees trail the Red Sox 2-1 in this best-of-five matchup.

CC Sabathia (3.65 ERA) is expected to start Tuesday’s game for New York opposite Rick Porcello (4.28 ERA). Sabathia gave up a combined seven runs in 14 innings against Boston this year; Porcello pitched 0.2 innings of one-hit relief in Friday’s opener, helping the Sox to a 5-4 win as –160 home favourites.

MLB Odds: Big Bats Swing Away in the Bronx

The two highest run-producing offenses during the regular season will go toe-to-toe this Tuesday when the Boston Red Sox visit Yankees Stadium for Game 4 of the ALDS. With elimination on the line for the Yankees, their big hitters will need to be tuned in if they hope to keep pace with Boston.

In an attempt to quiet Boston’s offense, the New York Yankees will send CC Sabathia to the mound. The 38-year-old pitched to a respectable 3.65 ERA through 29 regular season starts in 2018. Boston will turn to Rick Porcello, who will be making his second appearance of the postseason, but first start. The righty is 0-3 all-time in the postseason and has struggled to a 5.33 ERA in his postseason career. Tuesday will be another opportunity to tame the homerun kings.

MLB Odds: Dodgers Host Braves in NLDS Game 1

They needed a tiebreaker to get there, but the Los Angeles Dodgers (92-71, minus-22.83 betting units) won the National League West. Now they’ll host the NL East champions, the Atlanta Braves (90-72, plus-18.03 units), in Thursday’s Division Series opener. Fox Sports 1 and the MLB Network have the coverage. Start time is yet to be determined.

The pitchers for Thursday’s game are also up in the air at press time, although the Dodgers are expected to go with Clayton Kershaw (2.73 ERA) on regular rest, after rookie Walker Buehler got the job done in Monday’s 5-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies (+155 away). Kershaw is down 4.52 units this year despite leading Los Angeles to a 16-10 record.

The Braves are believed to have Mike Foltynewicz (2.85 ERA) in mind for Game 1. This has been a strange season for the former Houston Astros prospect, who came over to Atlanta in the 2015 Evan Gattis trade; Foltynewicz was named to the All-Star Game, but the Braves failed to convert three of his last five quality starts, falling 2.03 units in debt on a team record of 15-16. Atlanta’s bullpen ranks No. 17 in the majors with a 4.15 ERA.

MLB Odds: Braves-Dodgers in NLDS Opener

After winning their NL West tiebreaker on Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers (92-71, minus-22.83 betting units) will host the NL East-champion Atlanta Braves (90-72, plus-18.03 units) this Thursday in Game 1 of the NLDS – starting time yet to be determined. Fox Sports 1 and the MLB Network will split the coverage.

It’s not official yet, but it looks like Clayton Kershaw (2.73 ERA) will start for the Dodgers opposite Mike Foltynewicz (2.85 ERA). Not expected to play: Atlanta SS Dansby Swanson (.699 OPS), who suffered a partially torn ligament in his left hand last week.

MLB Odds: A’s-Yankees in AL Wild Card Game

After winning 100 games, the New York Yankees (100-62, minus-9.50 betting units) still find themselves one game away from elimination. They earned the first Wild Card berth in the American League, and this Wednesday, they’ll host the Oakland Athletics (97-65, plus-36.63 units) in a win-or-go-home matchup; beginning at 8 PM ET on TBS.

The starting pitchers for Wednesday have yet to be determined at press time. In theory, New York’s choice is between Masahiro Tanaka (3.75 ERA) and Luis Severino (3.39 ERA), both of whom would be well-rested for the Wild Card Game. Severino got off to an amazing start in 2018, but had his ups and downs during the second half. Tanaka has provided five quality starts over his last eight appearances.

Oakland is rumored to be going with reliever Liam Hendriks (4.13 ERA) as their “opener” for the Wild Card Game. The Athletics don’t have any one pitcher who can be considered their ace, but they do have one of the best bullpens in the majors, and Hendriks has already opened eight games this year. Hendriks posted a 2.08 ERA over 8.2 innings in those games, leading the A’s to a 4-4 record with the Over at 6-2.

MLB Odds: Yankees Host A’s in Must-Win Wild Card Game

They’re two of the best teams in baseball, but either the New York Yankees (100-62, minus-9.50 betting units) or the Oakland Athletics (97-65, plus-36.63 units) will be going home after Wednesday’s AL Wild Card Game. TBS has the first pitch from Yankee Stadium at 8 PM ET.

Although Wednesday’s starting pitchers have yet to be announced at press time, it’s believed the A’s will use reliever Liam Hendriks (4.13 ERA) as their opener, a role he’s performed eight times this year. The Yankees appear torn between Masahiro Tanaka (3.75 ERA) and Luis Severino (3.39 ERA) as their starter.

MLB Odds: Yankees Take on A’s in Elimination Wild Card

The MLB playoffs are here, and that means time for the ever-exciting Wild Card game. In the American League, the offensive juggernaut New York Yankees welcome the scrappy Oakland Athletics to Yankees Stadium for a winner-takes-all game. The Yankees have been among the MLB’s favorites all season long with the likes of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton clubbing homeruns at a record-breaking pace.

The Athletics, however, are a team that has had to fight every step of the way to make the playoffs. They have the third smallest payroll in the MLB, and have experienced so many injuries to their starting rotation that they’ve reverted to pitching by committee out of the bullpen most games. This is a true ‘haves versus have-nots’ matchup.

The Yankees have had a firm hold on a playoff position for some time and went 9-4 to finish the regular season and clinch home field advantage in the Wild Card game. Meanwhile, the A’s split the season series with the Yankees 3-3, with both teams taking two of three at home. But Oakland will hope to continue riding the momentum that led to their playoff berth and overcome the Yankees’ homefield advantage. The game begins this Wednesday at 8:05 PM ET.

MLB Odds: A’s Get Set to Take on Yankees in New York

This Wednesday, the Oakland Athletics hit the field for the most important game of their season. At 8:08 PM Et, they take on the New York Yankees in a do-or-die Wildcard matchup. As a below .500 ballclub in June, the A’s turned things around to go 61-27 since June 16 and solidify their spot in the postseason. They’ll need to continue that run on Wednesday if they hope to cool down the offensively-explosive Yankees.

These are the games the Yankees were built for. Oakland has scraped together pitchers all season, but going against the Bronx Bombers may finally show their shortcomings. New York set the homerun record for a team this season, finishing with 266 dingers. Oakland will need to pull out all the stops if they hope to hold the Yankees’ offense at bay.
