NHL Odds: Battle of Alberta on Hockey Night in Canada

They’ve met 268 times since the WHA folded and the Atlanta Flames moved north. They’ll meet again this Saturday when the Calgary Flames host the Edmonton Oilers, starting at 10 PM ET on CBC. Calgary lead the series 130-119-19 overall, but Edmonton have won seven of the last nine games. This will be their first encounter of the 2018-19 campaign.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

The Flames (10-7-1) have the upper hand so far this season, which is their first under new head coach Bill Peters, who spent the last four years behind the Carolina Hurricanes bench. They’re healthy, and their puck possession stats are strong, but Calgary are dead-even on the year with a goal differential of zero. They’re getting better results lately with back-up netminder David Rittich (.935 save percentage) alternating starts with incumbent No. 1 Mike Smith (.877 SV%).

Edmonton (9-8-1) are still trying to make the leap they expected after drafting Connor McDavid first overall in 2015. McDavid remains one of the very best players in the game, but the Oilers have lost four of their last five, with poor results on face-offs and disappointing goaltending from starter Cam Talbot. Back-up Mikko Koskinen handled Tuesday’s 6-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens (+130 away).

NHL Odds: Oilers, Flames Renew Battle of Alberta

Expect plenty of fireworks this Saturday (10 PM ET, CBC) when the 10-7-1 Calgary Flames host the 9-8-1 Edmonton Oilers on Hockey Night in Canada. These Albertan rivals don’t play nice, and the Flames should be extra-truculent after losing seven of their last nine meetings with Edmonton.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

Both teams have gotten strong performances this year from their back-up goalies. Calgary’s results have improved with David Rittich between the pipes instead of Mike Smith, which has happened more often lately, while the Oilers have had more success with little-used Mikko Koskinen than incumbent starter Cam Talbot.

The 10-7-1 Calgary Flames will be out for revenge this Saturday when they host the 9-8-1 Edmonton Oilers on Hockey Night in Canada, beginning at 10 PM ET on CBC. The Oilers have won the Battle of Alberta seven times in their past nine meetings.

This Saturday’s Hockey Night in Canada double-header will wrap up at 10 PM on CBC with the 10-7-1 Calgary Flames hosting the 9-8-1 Edmonton Oilers, in the latest must-see episode of the Battle of Alberta.

The 10-7-1 Calgary Flames battle the 9-8-1 Edmonton Oilers this Saturday at the Saddledome, beginning at 10 PM ET on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada.

NBA Odds: Can Rockets Cover Kings Minus ‘Melo?

It isn’t official yet at press time, but it looks like the Houston Rockets (6-7 SU, 5-8 ATS) are consciously uncoupling from Carmelo Anthony. That should give the Rockets added betting value this Saturday when they host the Sacramento Kings (8-6 SU, 9-5 ATS); tip-off is at 8 PM ET. Houston are 2-1 SU and ATS since Anthony was put on the shelf with an undisclosed illness.

Bet on basketball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

That illness appears to be a front. The Rockets are said to be in discussions with Anthony and his representatives about what his role will be going forward; all indications are that the former All-Star has played his last game for Houston. Rookie Gary Clark has taken on a larger role in Anthony’s absence, although he left Tuesday’s win over the Denver Nuggets with a hip contusion and is listed as day-to-day.

The Kings, meanwhile, are finally reaping the rewards from all those years of tanking. Point guard De’Aaron Fox (drafted No. 5 overall in 2017) has made significant progress as a sophomore, joining center Willie Cauley-Stein (No. 6, 2015) in a promising young lineup that’s been bolstered by the arrival of veterans PF Nemanja Bjelica and SG Iman Shumpert.

The Rockets appear to be moving on from Carmelo Anthony – a very good idea at this point. However, his replacement at power forward, rookie Gary Clark, suffered a hip contusion on Tuesday and remains day-to-day at press time. Clark has given Houston the defensive presence Anthony has lacked for virtually his whole career.

NBA Odds: Kings-Rockets at Toyota Center

With Carmelo Anthony no longer in uniform, the Houston Rockets (6-7 SU, 5-8 ATS) hope to continue their recovery this Saturday when they host the Sacramento Kings (8-6 SU, 9-5 ATS), beginning at 8 PM ET. The Rockets are 2-1 SU and ATS since Anthony was shelved with an “illness.”

The Houston Rockets (6-7 SU, 5-8 ATS) are 2-1 SU and ATS since taking Carmelo Anthony out of the lineup. They hope their long climb back will continue this Saturday when they host the Sacramento Kings (8-6 SU, 9-5 ATS), starting at 8 PM ET.

The Houston Rockets (6-7 SU, 5-8 ATS), presumably without Carmelo Anthony, will host the much-improved Sacramento Kings (8-6 SU, 9-5 ATS) this Saturday at 8 PM ET. Houston are 2-1 SU and ATS minus Anthony.

NFL Odds: NFC North Divisional Showdown on Sunday Night Football

The Chicago Bears’ rise from mediocrity continued in Week 10 with a dominant victory over the Detroit Lions. While the Lions are certainly not in the upper echelon of the league, the Bears showed that their team is a threat on both sides of the ball. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings are coming off of a Bye Week and will look to field a healthier team than they’ve had in weeks as they attempt to regain their divisional lead.

Bet on football at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

The Bears are riding a 3-game winning streak and unsurprisingly, Chicago’s defense has been at the center of that success. They’ve allowed an average of just 13 points per game over that span and now sit in fourth in the NFL in points allowed per game (19.4). Led by LB Khalil Mack, who drives the Bears’ defense with 7 sacks on the season, Chicago has found success with a focus on defense.

Minnesota comes into Chicago a rested and hopefully healthier team. Minnesota has been missing several starters, including WR Stefon Diggs, over the past weeks and welcomed the week off. Starting this Sunday, the Vikes face NFC North divisional teams in four of their remaining seven games, so they’ll need to find their stride if they hope to hold on to a playoff spot. Sunday’s game will go a long way in affirming their stance atop the division. Game time is 8:20 PM ET.

NFL Odds: Defensive Juggernauts Meet in Chicago

This Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears will clash in the first of two meetings this season. After a victory over the Detroit Lions in Week 10, the Bears now lead the NFC North. QB Mitch Trubisky is coming off of one of his best games of the year after throwing for 355 years and three TD, including one rushing TD. He’ll try to duplicate that success against a stingy Vikings defense.

Minnesota will be tasked with getting back up to speed after a Bye Week in Week 10. Now trailing the Bears by one game in the division, Kirk Cousins and the Vikings will need to find a way to break through the Bears’ stifling defense, led by Khalil Mack. Kick-off is 8:20 PM ET.

NFL Odds: Packers-Seahawks in “Must-Win” for Both Teams

It may only be Week 11 out of 17, but Thursday night’s game between the Green Bay Packers (4-4-1 SU, 4-5 ATS) and Seattle Seahawks (4-5 SU, 5-3-1 ATS) is a virtual “must-win” for both clubs. The Seahawks are 3-point home favorites at press time with a total of 49.5.

Bet on football at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

The Seahawks need this game even more than Green Bay. They’re five wins behind the 9-1 Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West, while the Packers are within earshot of the 6-3 Chicago Bears in the NFC North. The two Wild Card spots in the NFC are currently held down by the 6-3 Carolina Panthers and the 5-3-1 Minnesota Vikings.

Seattle have won each of their last three meetings at home with the Packers, all during the Pete Carroll-Russell Wilson Era. But after covering the first two games, they needed a crazy late fourth-quarter comeback and overtime to beat Green Bay 28-22 as 8.5-point favorites in the 2014-15 NFC title game. These two teams have met three times at Lambeau Field since then, with the Packers winning all three games SU and ATS. FOX has the coverage at 8:20 PM ET.

Things get tense whenever the Green Bay Packers (4-4-1 SU, 4-5 ATS) and the Seattle Seahawks (4-5 SU, 5-3-1 ATS) lock horns. With both teams desperate to improve their playoff chances, Thursday’s matchup in Seattle should be extra-spicy. NBA Odds: Post-Butler Wolves Host Pelicans

Now that Jimmy Butler is being shipped out of town, can the Minnesota Timberwolves (4-9 SU, 5-8 ATS) get their season back on track? They’ll host the New Orleans Pelicans (6-6 SU, 5-7 ATS) this Wednesday at 8 PM ET on ESPN; newcomers Dario Saric and Robert Covington should be ready for the Timberwolves, provided the Butler trade with the Philadelphia 76ers is finalized on Monday and they pass their physicals as expected.

Bet on basketball at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

Both Saric and Covington could find themselves in Minnesota’s starting lineup on Wednesday. Saric would be an upgrade over PF Taj Gibson, while Covington would take over for Butler at small forward. However, the Wolves rotation remains in flux with Jeff Teague (knee), Derrick Rose (face) and Andrew Wiggins (quadriceps) all listed as day-to-day.

New Orleans have two of their own starters to worry about. PG Elfrid Payton and PF Nikola Mirotic are day-to-day with ankle injuries; Payton has been out since late October, but is likely to return this week, while Mirotic has missed one game and may be available on Wednesday after being seen at practice wearing an ankle brace. The Pelicans started the year at 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS with their full lineup.

NBA Odds: Rosters in Flux for Pelicans-Timberwolves

Provided the trade goes through, the Minnesota Timberwolves (4-9 SU, 5-8 ATS) won’t have Jimmy Butler to worry about this Wednesday when they host the New Orleans Pelicans (6-6 SU, 5-7 ATS), tipping off at 8 PM ET on ESPN. Butler is being dealt to Philadelphia; Dario Saric and Robert Covington are heading to Minnesota.

The Wolves still have Andrew Wiggins, Jeff Teague and Derrick Rose all listed as day-to-day. Elfrid Payton and Nikola Mirotic are in the same boat for New Orleans, who started the season at 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS before Payton sprained his right ankle.

With Jimmy Butler reportedly heading to Philadelphia, the 4-9 Minnesota Timberwolves should have Dario Saric and Robert Covington in the lineup this Wednesday (8 PM ET, ESPN) when they host the 6-6 New Orleans Pelicans. Andrew Wiggins, Jeff Teague and Derrick Rose are still day-to-day.

NFL Odds: Cowboys-Eagles on Sunday Night Football

The defending Super Bowl champions are having an epic Super Bowl hangover. But the Philadelphia Eagles (4-4 SU, 3-5 ATS) can get back above .500 with a win this Sunday over the struggling Dallas Cowboys (3-5 SU and ATS), kicking off at 8:20 PM ET on NBC. The Eagles are 7-point home favorites at press time after opening at –6.5; the total is holding steady at 43.

Bet on football at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Philadelphia started their Super Bowl defense with Nick Foles continuing to fill in at quarterback for Carson Wentz. The Eagles are 3-3 SU and 2-4 ATS since Wentz made his debut in Week 3, but they’re 2-1 SU and ATS in their past three games, with Wentz looking more and more comfortable each day.

Dallas have lost back-to-back games SU and ATS, leaving head coach Jason Garrett clinging to his job by a thread. The success Garrett and the Cowboys enjoyed during their first two years with Dak Prescott at quarterback appears to have dried up. Injuries to the offensive line play a large role here, particularly with Pro Bowl center Travis Frederick, who has yet to play a game this year after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome in late August.

NFL Odds: Eagles Host Fading Cowboys in NFC East Battle

The Philadelphia Eagles (4-4 SU, 3-5 ATS) start the second half of their Super Bowl defense this Sunday when they host the Dallas Cowboys (3-5 SU and ATS) in an important NFC East matchup. NBC has the coverage at 8:20 PM ET; Philadelphia are 7-point favorites at press time with a total of 43.

NHL Odds: Coyotes and Flyers Play Second in Back-to-Back

After dropping Monday’s game 5-2 to Philadelphia, the Arizona Coyotes will have a second chance at the Flyers on Thursday when the clubs finish off a home-and-home. Prior to Monday’s loss, Arizona was on a tear, winning six of seven games. But after being beat handily in front of their home fans, Arizona will be eager to return the favour in Philadelphia.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

The Flyers enter Thursday’s game at an even .500 with a 7-7-1 record. While securing just half of the available points isn’t an ideal way to open a season, Philadelphia’s stars have shown up in a big way. Yet again, Claude Giroux (6 goals, 11 assists) and Jakub Voracek (4 goals, 11 assists) lead the team offensively in the early going, with both players producing at a point-per-game pace or better. But team defense has been the Flyers’ shortcoming so far in 2018-19; they’ve surrendered 3.73 goals per game and none of their starters has a save percentage above .900.

Arizona will be keen to capitalize on Philadelphia’s porous defense and get their own offense going. Led by Clayton Keller (5 goals, 5 assists), the Coyotes haven’t been an offensive superpower so far this season, but the return of Alex Galchenyuk, who has registered five points in six games, should help bolster the offense.

NHL Odds: ‘Yotes and Flyers Meet in Philly

The Philadelphia Flyers will host the Arizona Coyotes this Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center. The Flyers are coming off of a 5-2 victory over the Coyotes and will try to register back-to-back victories for just the second time this season. With starter Brian Elliott sidelined, expect backup Calvin Pickard to once again be in net for Philadelphia.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

The Arizona Coyotes have gotten off to a decent start, going 7-6-0. Clearly in rebuilding mode, the Coyotes have focused on team defense in the early part of the season and they now sit third in the league, having surrendered just 2.23 goals per game. If they can get their young offensive stars going, we could see a competitive club in Arizona for the first time in years.

NBA Odds: Rockets, Thunder Open TNT Double-Header

Injuries, suspensions and offseason changes have kept both the Houston Rockets (4-5 SU, 3-6 ATS) and the Oklahoma City Thunder (5-4 SU and ATS) from getting out of the gate quickly this year. But only one of these teams is expected to have their top players available for Thursday’s matchup at Chesapeake Energy Arena. TNT will provide the television coverage at 8 PM ET.

Bet on basketball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Russell Westbrook missed the first two games of the season for Oklahoma City recovering from knee surgery, and it looks like he’ll be on the shelf again after spraining his left ankle during Monday’s win over New Orleans. Westbrook appeared to be in considerable pain after landing awkwardly on Anthony Davis’s foot. His status going forward remains unknown at press time.

As for the Rockets, they got off to a very slow start, and it didn’t help when James Harden (hamstring injury, three games) and Chris Paul (suspension, two games) were taken out of the lineup. However, both All-Stars are back in the fold, and Houston won the first three games of this five-game road trip at 2-1 ATS. Eric Gordon could join them on Thursday after missing the past two games with a strained right adductor.

NBA Odds: Short-Handed Thunder Host Rockets on TNT

It looks like the Oklahoma City Thunder (5-4 SU and ATS) might be missing Russell Westbrook when they host the Houston Rockets (4-5 SU, 3-6 ATS) this Thursday at 8 PM ET on TNT. Westbrook suffered a sprained left ankle during Monday’s win over New Orleans and was unable to return.

Bet on basketball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

The Rockets, meanwhile, have won three straight games at 2-1 ATS after a slow start. James Harden is back in the lineup after sitting out a week with a hamstring injury; Eric Gordon remains day-to-day for Houston with a strained right adductor that has cost him the past two games.

NFL Odds: Carolina in Pittsburgh this Thursday

The Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers will clash this Thursday night at Heinz Field in what will feel like a playoff game in Steel City. Both teams enter Thursday’s matchup with active winning streaks on the line and first place in their divisions in mind. It’ll be the first and only time Carolina and Pittsburgh meet this regular season, and just the second time Ben Roethlisberger and Cam Newton have faced each other. Newton will look to even up the all-time series this week.

Bet on football at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Since starting the 2018 season 1-2-1 in a sea of controversy due to the hold-out of their Pro Bowl running back, the Pittsburgh Steelers have run the table, winning four straight games. While it has been a team effort, the Steelers’ new starting RB, James Conner, has proven that the Steelers can win without Le’Veon Bell. Conner ranks third in the NFL in rushing yards (599) and has eclipsed the 100-yard plateau in each of his last four games.

The Panthers have surrendered the eighth-fewest rushing yards in the league this season and will be called upon often to stop Conner. Pro Bowler Luke Kuechly and the Carolina defense may be the difference maker on Thursday Night Football. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 PM ET.

NFL Odds: Steelers Host Panthers on Thursday Night Football

The Carolina Panthers are coming off of a 42-28 drubbing of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will attempt to extend their team winning streak to four games with a defeat of the AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers. Carolina lives and breathes with the running game, capitalizing on a steady mix of Christian McCaffrey and Cam Newton. Will Pittsburgh’s sixth-ranked rush defense be able to slow them down?

Bet on football at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Pittsburgh can threaten with a dangerous rushing game in their own right, as James Conner has taken over as the No. 1 in Steel City. Conner ranks third in the NFL with 599 rushing yards and offers a balanced attack to the Steelers’ pass-happy offense. Game time is 8:20 PM ET.

NFL Odds: Panthers, Steelers Light up Thursday Night

Will Thursday’s game between the Carolina Panthers and the Pittsburgh Steelers turn out to be a preview of Super Bowl LIII? The Panthers (6-2 SU, 5-3 ATS) are one of the best teams in the NFC, while the Steelers (5-2-1 SU, 5-3 ATS) are first in the AFC North heading into the second half of their regular season. Kick-off from Heinz Field is at 8:20 PM ET on FOX.

Bet on football at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

The Panthers ride a three-game SU and ATS winning streak into Thursday’s matchup. Not to be outdone, the Steelers are 4-0 SU and ATS in their last four games, and there’s a chance that RB Le’Veon Bell will end his contract hold-out in time to join his teammates for Week 10. Pittsburgh have gotten mixed results from RB James Conner in the meantime.

Most of the damage the Steelers have done this year is through the air, where QB Ben Roethlisberger is having another Pro Bowl-quality campaign. Carolina, on the other hand, possess arguably the best rushing attack in the league, featuring the three-headed monster of QB Cam Newton and tailbacks Christian McCaffrey and CJ Anderson. That will come in handy on what should be a cold November night in Pittsburgh.

)

NFL Odds: Panthers-Steelers on Thursday Night Football

A potential Super Bowl LIII preview is on tap this Thursday when the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2-1 SU, 5-3 ATS) welcome the Carolina Panthers (6-2 SU, 5-3 ATS) to Heinz Field, beginning at 8:20 PM ET on FOX. Both teams would make the playoffs if they started today.

Bet on football at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

The Panthers have played at a higher level than Pittsburgh thus far, especially in the running game – but that could start changing this week if RB Le’Veon Bell ends his holdout and rejoins his Steelers teammates. Bell’s contributions would be extra-welcome during what promises to be a cold night on the North Shore.

NHL Odds: Panthers and Jets Head to Finland

This Thursday, the Winnipeg Jets and the Florida Panthers will face each other in a game on Finnish soil. Touting two of the biggest Finnish stars in the NHL in Patrik Laine and Aleksander Barkov, the NHL is showcasing its stars and the league on the other side of the Atlantic.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

For Florida, the change of scenery will be welcomed. They’ve struggled out of the gate to a 2-4-3 record and rank in the bottom half of the league in both goals for and goals against. That slow start can be partially attributed to an injury to their starting goaltender, Roberto Luongo, who has been out with a knee injury since the first game of the season. James Reimer and Michael Hutchinson haven’t been adequate fill-ins between the pipes, and Florida has struggled to keep the puck out of their net.

Winnipeg has benefitted from much more success, going 7-4-1 through the early part of the season. Strong play from Mark Scheifele (6 goals, 6 assists) and Blake Wheeler (2 goals, 9 assists) has led the Jets to the 3rd best powerplay in the NHL. Now with back-to-back games in Helsinki on Thursday and Friday (2 PM ET), both teams will have a chance to register four points in the standings.

NHL Odds: Finland Hosts the Panthers and Jets

As the NHL looks to reach greater audiences across the globe, the Florida Panthers and Winnipeg Jets will drop the puck in Helsinki, Finland for the first of a two-game miniseries this Thursday. Winnipeg has stormed out of the gate and has 15 points through 12 games.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

Florida, on the other hand, has been plagued by injuries early in the season and has registered just 7 points in 9 games. While it is still early, the Panthers will be eager to take advantage of new surroundings and try to get their game back on track. That’ll be difficult against the heavy-hitting Jets, however. With stars Patrik Laine and Aleksander Barkov on display, Finish fans will be cheering for their countrymen.

NFL Odds: Raiders-Niners on Thursday Night Football

Oakland and San Francisco are about as different as night and day, but they have something very much in common this year. Heading into Thursday’s matchup at Levi’s Stadium, the Raiders (1-6 SU, 2-5 ATS) are last in the AFC West, while the 49ers (1-7 SU, 2-6 ATS) find themselves at the bottom of the NFC West. FOX will provide the coverage at 8:20 PM ET; the Niners opened at –3 and remain there at press time; the total is 46.5.

Bet on football at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

At least San Francisco’s malaise doesn’t seem premeditated. Their season went off the rails in Week 3 when starting quarterback and franchise savior Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL and had to go on injured reserve. With CJ Beathard at the controls, San Fran have one of the worst offenses in the league – and their defense isn’t very good, either.

The Raiders, meanwhile, are a lame-duck franchise until they make their eventual move to Las Vegas. They started clearing out talent well before sending Pro Bowl LB Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears in September; the exodus continued last week when Oakland traded top wideout Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys for a first-round pick in 2019.

NFL Odds: Stripped-Down Raiders Visit Wounded Niners

This week’s episode of Thursday Night Football (8:20 PM ET, FOX) features two teams who had much higher hopes for 2018: the San Francisco 49ers, and the visiting Oakland Raiders. San Francisco is a 3-point favorite at press time with a total of 46.5.

Bet on football at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

The Niners (1-7 SU, 2-6 ATS) had their hopes dashed in Week 3 when QB Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a torn ACL and was replaced by CJ Beathard. The Raiders (1-6 SU, 2-5 ATS), meanwhile, are selling off players – WR Amari Cooper is their most recent departure – as they prepare for their move to Las Vegas.

NHL Odds: Canucks Host Blackhawks in Battle of Rising Teams

After finishing 2017-18 well outside the playoff hunt, both the Chicago Blackhawks (6-3-3) and the Vancouver Canucks (6-6) find themselves just one win out of first place in their respective divisions. They’ll meet this Wednesday at Rogers Arena; the puck drops at 10 PM ET on the NHL Network.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

While both teams have enjoyed early success, they’ve been somewhat fortunate – Chicago have a goal differential of minus-2, while the Canucks are near the bottom of the West at minus-9. Vancouver also have defenseman Alex Edler (knee), LW Sven Baertschi (upper body) and back-up netminder Anders Nilsson (finger) on injured reserve.
