NHL Odds: Bruins Host Ducks in Thursday Night Clash

The Anaheim Ducks are in the midst of a six-game road trip and will continue their trip this Thursday in Boston. The Ducks have been hot of late, going 9-2-0 in their last 11 games, but suffered a loss in their last outing to the New York Rangers. Now facing one of the toughest defensive teams in the NHL, Anaheim will look to solve the suffocating Bruins.

After a dominant 4-0 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Monday, the Boston Bruins head back to the friendly confines of the TD Garden, where they’ve amassed an 11-4-0 record. Boston has stifled opposing offenses all season and sit second in the league in team defense, having surrendered just 2.59 goals per game. They should be well-positioned to make life difficult for the offensively-challenged Ducks.
Anaheim sits in third-last place in goals scored per game, averaging just 2.53 goals. Their puttering offense has struggled without regulars Corey Perry and Rickard Rakell in the lineup, who are both on extended IR. Despite those woes, Anaheim is just three points behind the Pacific Division-leading Calgary Flames. Like Boston, the Ducks have won by focusing on the defensive side of their game. If you’re a fan of well-played, defensive hockey, Thursday night’s matchup is for you. Game time is 7:00 PM ET.

Anaheim has won an impressive 11 of their previous 15 games and have settled into a groove after a tough start to the season. Goaltender John Gibson has been a big part of that recent success and has amassed a 2.52 goals against average and .927 save percentage through 29 games played. If Boston hopes to walk away triumphant, they’ll need to find a way to solve the young netminder.
