NHL Odds: Metropolitan-Leading Islanders take on Bruins

This Tuesday (7:00 PM ET), the New York Islanders head to TD Garden to take on the Boston Bruins. The Islanders have been smoking hot of late, going 6-0-2 in their last eight games. That run has put them on top of the Metropolitan Division with a four-point lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins. They’ll be up against a Bruins club that has struggled to a 4-3-3 record over their last 10 games played.

Boston’s recent struggles have been in large part due to inconsistent offensive play. That may sound crazy when the likes of David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron suit up for the B’s every night. But after the first line, things take a turn. Outside of Boston’s lethal trio, the next top point producer is David Krejci, with 41 points in 52 games. They’ll need to round out their offensive attack as they approach playoff time.

The Islanders have witnessed a renaissance under head coach Barry Trotz. In his first year with the club, Trotz has New York in a comfortable playoff position and sitting first in the NHL in goals against (2.35 goals against per game) 51 games into the regular season. Don’t miss this potential playoff series preview in the Eastern Conference.

The Bruins will be looking for ways to beat New York’s honed-in goaltender. If they’re able to, David Pastrnak will likely have a hand in it. The right winger has amassed 30 goals and 32 assists in 52 games this season to lead Boston. Will he be able to crack the fortress that is Robin Lehner’s net? Tune in to find out.
