NFL : Patriots Still –3 Versus Falcons for Super Bowl 51

Where’s the support for the Atlanta Falcons? Super Bowl 51 is coming up this Sunday (6:30 PM ET, FOX), and most of the action thus far has been on the favorites, the New England Patriots. They’re still 3-point favorites at press time, with most of the big bets coming in on Tom Brady and Friends. The total is also holding steady at 59.5 points after opening at 59 – a new Super Bowl record.

Despite all the support for the Patriots (16-2 SU, 15-3 ATS), Atlanta has picked up some steam on the moneyline. The NFC champs are available at +125, down from +135 at the open and as high as +140 last week. There should be some betting value on the Falcons (13-5 SU, 12-6 ATS) and their league-best offense in what looks like a close game on paper.

The under may also have value if the league has its way. Super Bowl 51 could be the first time all season that the retractable roof at Houston’s NRG Stadium has been opened for an NFL game; a final decision isn’t expected until just before game time. Sunday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and temperatures reaching 80 degrees at kick-off.

NFL Odds: Roof Open for Super Bowl 51?

There’s a new twist in the storyline for Super Bowl 51 this Sunday in Houston. Depending on the weather, it looks like the NFL wants the retractable roof opened for Sunday’s matchup (6:30 PM ET, FOX) between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. It would be the first time all season that the roof has been opened for an NFL game.

This could make the under worth extra consideration on the Super Bowl-record total of 59.5 points. The Patriots (–3) should also benefit if the Falcons and their NFL-best offense have to operate in the open air.
