It’s very rare for a non-athlete to win this three-round tournament; soap opera star Jack Wagner (+1400) is the only one to accomplish this feat since the inaugural event in 1990, and he did it twice, in 2006 and 2011. That’s bad news for Justin Timberlake (+6600), a 4-handicap golfer who will play Lake Tahoe for the third straight year. Romo and Fish have yet to win the Classic, but Romo is a 0-handicapper who has plenty of time for golf now that he’s no longer the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. So does Fish, who retired from the men’s tennis circuit in 2015; he was an avid golfer growing up, and he won the Celebrity division at last year’s Diamond Resorts Invitational – before finishing second behind Mulder this year.
Entertainment Odds: Mulder Goes for Three
Former All-Star pitcher Mark Mulder has been tearing up the celebrity golf scene since officially retiring in 2010. This Friday, he’ll defend his crown at the leading tournament on the celeb circuit, the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe. Mulder is +400 to win, followed by Tony Romo at +425 and Mardy Fish at +550.Like Mulder, Romo plays to a 0-handicap. The former Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback is making his return to Lake Tahoe after back trouble caused him to sit out the previous four years. Romo finished second in three straight tournaments between 2009 and 2011.
