Nashville got off to a slow start this year, but everything fell into place when they acquired center Kyle Turris from the Ottawa Senators on November 5. Turris has three goals and 10 assists in 14 games for the Preds, playing on the No. 2 line between LW Kevin Fiala and RW Craig Smith; top center Ryan Johansen (three goals, 14 assists in 23 games) may be able to play Wednesday after missing three games with an upper-body injury.
The Canucks were expected to be bottom-feeders this year in the Pacific Division, but while their level of play is still sub-standard, it hasn’t been a total disaster in Year One under rookie head coach Travis Green. Unfortunately for Vancouver, two of their top three scorers will miss Wednesday’s game and might not return until February: center Bo Horvat (broken ankle) and LW Sven Baertschi (broken jaw).
NHL Odds: Predators Visit Short-Handed Canucks
They lost in six games last year, but the Nashville Predators (18-7-4) look like they’re ready to make another run at the Stanley Cup. Their quest continues Wednesday night at 10 PM ET when they play the Vancouver Canucks (14-13-4) at Rogers Arena.Bet on football at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.
While the Predators have been red-hot since adding center Kyle Turris (three goals, 10 assists in 14 games for Nashville) in early November, the Canucks will be without two of their top scorers for the next month or so; center Bo Horvat is out with a broken ankle, and LW Sven Baertschi has a fractured jaw.
